Finding just the right design balance in a boys’ bedroom for kids who are no longer in the same peer group can be challenging, but Larissa Haynes over at the Prodigal Pieces blog found exactly the right mix by choosing an industrial theme.

The boys’ room before Haynes got her creative hands on it was cozy and functional but Prodigan Pieces Boys Room Beforedefinitely lacked some style. Because Haynes believes in re-purposing and up-cycling as much as possible, any remodeling scheme was going to involve quite a bit of DIY, but once she hit on the vintage industrial idea, everything clicked into place.

One of the most notable changes is the light fixture in the center of the ceiling. Before, a couple of small table lamps were what the boys used for lighting.

“The room didn’t have (a ceiling fixture), but had a dedicated outlet you had to plug your lamp into and hope not to fall in the dark while reaching it,” Haynes noted on the first post she wrote about her boys’ room makeover.

eFaucets and Haynes recently partnered on her farmhouse bathroom makeover, so when she needed a light fixture for her boys’ room, we were happy to help.

Haynes chose a three-light flush-mount from Hudson Valley with a distinct industrial Boys Room Prodigal Piecesdesign. Featuring solid metal cage around a mouth-blown glass globe, the Conrad is a beefy light; it measures nearly 16 inches in diameter and is almost six inches tall.

The combination of metal and glass gives Haynes the vintage industrial look she was after in a lighting fixture that’s also classic for good looks that will last.

“The room didn’t have a light fixture before we started and we are delighted with how well the fixture from eFaucets accents the style we were going for. Isn’t it sweet?” Haynes wrote in her “reveal” post.

It is sweet; the Conrad flush mount from Hudson Valley is exactly the right finishing touch on the Haynes’ boys’ vintage industrial bedroom.
